I think just about everyone knows about the sinking of this ship (Formally the trawler Sir William Hardy) in Aukland harbour 1985,which the French although not formally admitting sinking her paid Green Peace $8.159 million in compensation. He was salvaged and on the 12th December 1987 was towed to Matauri Bay in New Zealand with Full Maori Ceremony. She is in clear deep waters and forming an artificial reef, often visited by Scuba Divers.A Fitting end for the grand old lady. Hi Edna and Nigel. The compensation from the sinking was put towards the building of the New RAINBOW WARRIOR.She had a Lecture room and Science lab on board and is now used for more educational perposes than her predocessor.I personally think some aspect of Green Peace has lost the plot by using violence in stead of peacefull demontstration and benign interference as before.
