The National Archives, Kew,I am trying to locate my Grandfathers RNR record !901-1916, he was a Stoker Petty Officer, but I am not sure which records I should be looking at, is he classed as, Rating, Warrant officer, or officer. |

Hello tmead and welcome to the Forum. Your grandfather will have been classed as a Rating. He will have worked his way up to Petty Officer, firstly as a Stoker, then as a Leading Stoker before reaching Petty Officer rank.
Jim

Thank you Jim, my grandfather served 10yrs in the royal navy 1883-1893,
Then signed on in 1901 RNR again 1905, in 1910 to take him up to 1916, saw service at scope flow 1914-1916 HMS Crescent then was pensioned off through heart disease. I have his RN seaman’s record that shows this, but would there be another record document for his RNR service and hopefully his long service medal regards Tony. |
