Hi Terry
Every one them in post #23 is different in some way. With what I have read on the Corvette the "Fennel" looks to be just about original. With the ones alongside the only thing that seems constant is the Main Roof Aerial and the Bellini Tossi. Pity the guy who took that photo couldn't have been a touch further forard, he would have given us a cracking shot of the Radar mount. These photos bear out the fact that every few ships that were launched in the class were altered to suit the swiftly advancing strides in Detection, Attack and Defence. But again from what I have read it was a rare breed of matelot that sailed on them. Dave H Last edited by Dave Hutson : 29-08-2009 at 19:44. Reason: missed a bit |

Harry..........got it now.............the "Gizmo"............has to be a "bracket retaining water tank housed"...........park it on top of gun director then you don't have to rotate it by hand, just turn the director!

Reading the book that this fellow has, it seems that the Bathurst class was built in various ship yards around Australia and had extensive refits during its short life in service.

All kinds of Sackville pics at my site...They call it the "Lantern" and it housed the 271 hand cranked radar. They were installed on a wide variety of warships, from the old 4 Stackers to Escort Carriers...
Best to all from Halifax! http://macsnavylinks.ca/corvettek-181.html http://www.esnips.com/web/macdalesPhotos |
