All,

After some advice from Jim, I managed to sort out the carrier diagrams.

The first is 17 sheets, HMS SEARCHER, not PUNCHER as I first thought.

Working on BATTLER at the minute as one of the pdf pages is corrupted.

I am posting SEARCHER over 3 posts due to the size of the diagrams

Regards,

Craig.

Edit: Although I can't remember where or when I sourced these diagrams, there is an attribution on Page 1.

It would appear that the previously posted general arrangements were indeed HMS PUNCHER and not HMS SEARCHER.

Although page 1 has a pencil amendment on it saying HMS SEARCHER, it also states the carrier as US Pennant CVE-53, which after a bit of hunting, I found out it's true identity;

USS WILLAPA transferred to the RN under the Lend-Lease agreement and renamed HMS PUNCHER.

Next time I will check a bit more thoroughly!

Regards,

Craig.

All,

I managed to sort the corrupted file in the following diagrams.

They are for the ATTACKER Class Escort Carriers, built under the Lend-Lease agreement by Ingalls Shipbuilding Corp., Pascagoula, Mississippi.

Stated on sheet one are the following 4 hulls;

ACV6 - USS ALTAHAMA (later HMS BATTLER - D18)
ACV8 - USS BLOCK ISLAND (later HMS HUNTER - D80)
ACV10 - USS BRETON (later HMS CHASER - D32)
ACV17 - USS ST GEORGE (later HMS PURSUER - D73)

Regards,

Craig

Interesting to read this Craig - Puncher was one of the two WWII RN escort carriers whose ships' companies were RCN personnel, while their aircrews were FAA.

Craig,

many thanks for posting these PDF's.

They will be a valuable tool for anybody considering building a WWII Escort Carrier.

I built a 1:72 scale model of HMS PRETORIA CASTLE, subsequently named SS WARWICK CASTLE, the liner which brought me from South Africa to England in 1948. I was fortunate to see her 1962 in Portland Harbour during a storm, sheltering en route Spain for disposal and breaking up.

Had a quick nostalgic tour.

Sandy.

All,

Thanks for the feedback,

I have a few more to post, but they need tidying up and reducing in size first.

Regards,

Craig.

All,

The first of two ships general arrangements,

This one - Algerine Class Minesweeper.

I think the other is a Flower Class Corvette, though I'm not sure.

It still needs some fixing, but I'll post it here soon.

Regards,

Craig.

Ok,

I think this is a Flower Class Corvette.

I'm sure someone will correct me if it's not.

Thanks is not enough for this, Craig--I just happen to have an Algerine class minesweeper on my "bucket list", and your post comes along at a near-perfect time! I'll also be starting a River class frigate this winter. You've provided invaluable contributions for us here, and please know that I appreciate it!

Dan,

You're quite welcome.
I believe that this info should be shared and not hoarded in a drawer, or in my case, on a cd somewhere.

Blackbat,

Thank you for your confirmation, I thought it was a Flower, but wasn't sure.

All,

Here's my latest submission.

General Arrangement of the Oberon Class submarines sold to the RCN from the RN.

Regards,

Craig.
