Damn Internet

Still I'm wondering what exactly the are thinking off, the report states that after this "study" the three services will sit down and harden up the specs they are looking for. Part of me wonders if something like the Damen Crossover might be on the cards...

The various Crossover designs would certainly seem to have potential - particularly the "Amphibious" and "Logistic" versions.

It's confirmed now from the Navy that a couple of personnel are going down to take part in Ex Southern Katipo to examine Canterbury's operations, so the newspaper report was accurate. Be interesting to see how this develops.

A photo from the Euro Med operations:

Good experience and knowledge for the Navy, wonder how much if any the Med operations and the Irish deployments will feed into the EPV spec?

Found this on another site, but the plan from the Navy to upgrade and enhance the Naval base for berthing more ships in the Basin:
https://irl.eu-supply.com/app/docmgm...D VID=1219071

Of course this has limits as on the far side of the Basin is still the slag heap which has hazardous wastes in it (so is to be covered over and not used).

And here's a photo of what the old Graving Dock looked like back in the day:
