Default Maryak's CAD Models

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum so here goes.

My last job before I retired was as the Fleet? Manager for the South Australian Maritime Museum.

The Fleet consists of 2 restored vessels, ST Yelta and MV Archie Badenoch which now operate as fare paying passenger vessels on the Port River.

A saved from sinking iron schooner AS Nelcebee which is now on the hard.

Numerous small boats and yachts.

With respect to naval vessels: MV Archie Badenoch is a former 40ft Workboat which, prior to its retirement was the SA Police Rescue Launch. There is also a 27ft Montague Whaler and a 14ft sailing dinghy, both ex HMAS Encounter. Encounter was the SA Naval Depot prior to decommissioning in 1994.

I have been beavering away at producing 3D CAD models of the 3 principal Museum Vessels and am progressing with the RAN vessels in which I served or operated.

The 1st Model I would like to share with you is MV Archie Badenoch.

Best Regards
Bob

Well done Bob, elsewhere in the forum you will find a lot of stuff about the 27' whaler, one of the members is making a model and was asking for plans, you could get together. I learned to sail in the RNSA 14', many happy memories.

Hi Tim,

Yes we had a bus from Nirimba down to RANSA at Rushcutter on a Saturday during the sailing season. I well remember a mate of mine getting a whaler base over apex in Rose Bay. A little too close to a Flying Boat. Meanwhile we were busy dodging Manly ferries and all the weekend warriors who crowded the harbour and most thought they owned it. Still a great time was had by all. Oh yes and then their was the sadistic Gannet pilot who blew a whaler over in Jervis Bay. We, (the Mobis), used to go down and camp in the disused airstrip situated above Creswell.

There was a southerly buster one Saturday and I remember a whaler screaming past a Dragon with nine of us hanging on like grim death. They sure could move in a blow.

Best Regards
Bob
