Gunnery Instructors Badge

Please can anyone settle an 'argument' for me please? I've been told that the current Sea Cadet Corps Drill Instructors badge (the same as a gunnery instructors) has crossed grenades on it! I'm sure they are crossed guns, & have looked them up on the web to confirm that they are, but a SCC L/T CMDR is trying to tell me they are grenades!?

Think the same, I was a qualified drill instructor with the SCC at Teignmouth unit some years ago.

Must admit GI's badges showed cross gun barrels ,each barrel was of two different diameters, I suppose if your imagination runs wild the barrels do look a little like the German potato masher grenade. Never having seen the Cadet force badge I am just guessing.

Here's the real thing.

There is a difference in the way some of the barrels are laid. Left over right, and right over left! Don't know why.

Maybe its the 'GI' way. Going through the seven badges in sequence, it's: right, left, right, left, right, left, right!

Well, they look like guns to me. A bit thin in that illustration, but nevertheless guns!

Thanks everyone for confirming what i thought was correct! Going to see said LT/CMDR (scc) at a Drill Competition at HMS Sultan at the end of March, should be an interesting conversation!!

For what it's worth, I've never seen trunnions on a hand grenade before.
