Default Re: Crew Losses

Hello Popeye. Re your Post 08.01.17. I cannot find any HALSEY listed as `Lost' in PHOENIX, indeed no Halsey lost on the date of loss (17.07.40) in any ship/sub. However there was a HALL lost in PHOENIX 17.07.1940 - perhaps your father has mistaken the name of the lost ?? Here his details ;

HALL, Kenneth G, Able Seaman, P/JX 139520, HMS/m PHOENIX (17.07.40).

HALL KENNETH GEORGE AB P/JX 139520 NE RN SM PHOENIX 21.07.40 X 22 080218 C PORTSMOUTH 38 - 3 PORTSMOUTH 4 - 282 Son of Roger and Catherine Hall of Anfield Plain, Co. Durham. JS 131038.

And here the HALSEY's Lost WW11 ;

HALSEY, Harry F, Petty Officer (DEMS), P/JX 228240, S.S Empire Gold, (President III,), 18.04.1945.

HALSEY, Ronald W, Ordinary Seaman, D/JX 171971, Stag, 24.12.1941.

HALSEY, William A, Able Seaman, P/J 54128, Cairo, 12.08.1942.

HALSEY, William A, Signalman, RNVR, C/LD/X 3301, Grove, 12.06.1942.

There may well be another explanation ??
