Default RN Signalman aboard SA Ship

Hi

During research into my father's WW2 service, it now seems likely that, as an RN signalman, he was loan-drafted to HMSAS Southern Seas, a converted trawler used on convoy escort and mine sweeping duties, probably some time in 1940 or 1941. He seems to have made acquaintances with a Raymond Clarke of 249, Loop Street Pietermaritzburg while on there, along with another character known colloquially as 'Lofty'. If there is anyone with access to South African Naval records from WW2 I would love to be able to verify this

Is that recorded on his Service Record? or just in his diary?

Jim

Mate, the words 'naval Service record' are like swear words to me. Enough said.
