Tim: I watched a live feed on the sinking on CBC.ca. It took about two minutes from the time of firing the demolition charges until she was gone. It was a bit strange to see seven years hard work and expense completed in two minutes.

Sad to see the video of my old ship sinking below the surface yesterday, but it's much more dignified than the cutting torch and she'll now give a lot of pleasure to the divers plus a home to thousands of sea creatures.

If I knew, I think I might have flown out there to see, I think one of the best ships my father was on, as kids we raised a little bit of heck on her the 67 (poor dad) , showed my mum the vid, brought a tear to her eye, the cleanest ship of all she said, hopefully get out and dive on her this summer
A beautiful lady

I was with the commissioning crew for Annapolis and served two postings for a total of six and a half years. Remember "Yackey Duck"? -and my famous overspeed trip for main LO pump in the ER? (that's a long story)

An update:

(From CTV News)

Supporters of controversial sunken ship bouyed by fishy visitors

"Officials with the Artificial Reef Society of B.C. say the sea floor is adapting well six months after the sinking of a decommissioned Canadian warship in Howe Sound, north of Vancouver.

HMCS Annapolis went down amid controversy in Halkett Bay off Gambier Island in April, ending years of legal battles from critics who argued paint on the ship's hull contained toxic chemicals

I served on HMCS Annapolis as naval signalman and there was accompany picture taken in about 1994. I was wondering if anyone knows where I might find a copy of this picture. It was the first time there was all ranks of Navajos on board serving at the same time

I left Annapolis in November 66 when I got out of the Navy, I was a Hull Mechanic and we may have also crossed paths.
