Default Canadian Navy Research Vessel Quest

Glossed over amidst the recent announcement of the scrapping of HMCS Preserver is the fact that her scrapping is part of a "package deal."

The second part of the deal is the scrapping of the former Canadian Forces Auxiliary Vessel (CFAV) Quest, a 2100 ton research vessel.

What is of particular note is that Quest was the last purpose-built research ship in the Canadian navy - leaving Canada in all probability the only medium sized navy not to have a sea-going naval research capability.

Another disgraceful step in the continuing decline of a once-proud navy.
