BlackBat242,

Thanks for that information! One can only hope they can keep up considering current events.

I only speak from experience being stationed on 3 Balsum Class Bouy Tenders Circa 1943 during time in the service. They in fact were maintenance intensive for the Deck crews and the Engine Room crews.

Regards
Charles

The situation with the Clamagore is one of harsh realities. I do consulting work for Patriot's Point now and have spoken to the CEO Mac Burdette about it. He has some serious issues to deal with involving the Yorktown and the Laffey and they have been closely monitoring the attendance at each vessel. The Clamagore just hasn't drawn the way the other two do, putting the museum in a situtation where it has to dump money into an unprofitable venture. It isn't fair to the Clamagore and it isn't Mac's fault, but that the deal. Mac has done nearly everything he can think of to help the museum make more money and he is leagues above anyone else they've had, but it a huge uphill battle. I'm worried for the Yorktown's future right now as well.

The last fundraising letter from Battleship Texas Foundation indicates that they are attempting to raise $45 million.

I saw a post on the Facebook page, she's listing to starboard. Puts an uneasy knot in my gut.

According to her Facebook page, it got as bad as 8 degrees , but she has been corrected to what is described as a normal 1.8 degree list.

Gentlemen: It seems to me that there may be bigger needs facing the citizens and government of Texas as a result of the damage from Hurricane Harvey. Perhaps the battleship should be retired and memoralised in some different way.
