Unfortunately, as I have been one of the main offenders in the use of acronyms, and have been taken to task about it on more than one occasion, I feel that I can't help but to respond.

Firstly I realise that the rules governing the use of acronyms, are plain for all to see in the forums 'Code of conduct'. It is though for all practical intent and purpose becoming very much outdated. The use of acronyms being ubiquitous these days.

Second point, it is clearly not factual that members have to quote [ to search the four corners of the www to find them.]Unquote. I myself google acronyms that are unfamiliar to me regularly, and find them within a very short time period.

Third. and in no way do I mean this disrespectully. Yes you are banging your head against a brick wall. Acronyms are here to stay, and like the web itself we have to accept the fact that it evolves rapidly. Doesn't it tell you something when you yourself state that 'more and more posts are including them'. The simple fact is that they are here to stay, and your intention to delete posts containing them without a full explanation of their meaning, means many an interesting post will be lost.

Perhaps it's time to slacken the reins a bit, people on here who are seriously interested in the forums subects would undoubtedly welcome that. Very rarely do we have a query regarding acronyms, and when we do and they are explained, it is usaully accepted very favourably.

I'm sure that members on here, who are not from a military background, would accept that certain threads are solely military, and therefore include acronyms as a natural language.

Do we in fact have a problem in that we have a large number of complaints regarding this issue, because I have not noticed anything to suggest that.

Cheers

GF
Your first point invalidates your others.
Your second paragraph goes to show that you take no heed of warnings.
I am sure that you will be able to use google to find a Forum that operates to your rules.
Final warning.

Jim

I didn't anywhere say that I did not intend to abide by the rules, although when posting I do sometime forget them.

I thought my post was a fair assessment of the modern web, and am most disapointed in your unwarranted reaction.

Indeed, a chilling effect. A go pound sand and go elsewhere attitude.

Ford is underway again. Previously, test pilot’s have launched and landed on her deck but today a Super Hornet assigned to the fleet squadron the “Gun Slingers “ operated on and off of the deck of Ford.
