Default RIP John Francis Creek - aka Jan

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my Dad, John Francis Creek, who died on the 23rd July 2017 from cancer.

My Dad joined the Royal Navy back in 1958 until 1983, the list of shore bases and ships were, HMS Ganges, HMS Hermes, HMS Loch Lomond, HMS Caesar, HMS Highburton, HMS Eagle, HMS Fearless, HMS Antelope and HMS Ambuscade.

A well loved man by all who knew him well, he spent his last days in Torpoint in Cornwall and the church was packed with friends and family.

God bless.

Default Yeoman Jan Creek RIP

Sad news. I served on HMS Fearless with Jan, and our paths also crossed at the RN Signal School, HMS Mercury. He was a top man, and the biggest compliment that I can pay him is to say that he was a proper matelot, a real product of his generation, and an infectious character who made everybody around him laugh and smile. He used to have me in stitches with his sea-stories and his (often ribald) comments about anything that passed in front of him! I shared many watches with him on the Fearless during exercises and it really was a pleasure to listen & learn from him.
The RN is a small world......I later served on HMS Brazen with his son, who was a killick tiff, another good lad.
RIP Jan. I know that you're still smiling up there on the Flag Deck.
