Default Service Record: Engineer Lieutenant Leaonard Stanley Rooke RN

This is from the 1939 Register. Plausibly HMS Mallard (L42) (with a poorly written letter M); it seems to be the only one that fits.

Biographical note: Leonard Stanley Rooke was born in 1892, joined the RN 10 Apr 1910, became a CERA in 1919 and an officer in 1922. He died in 1975 in Plymouth.

A copy of his Officers Record can be found here. Looking at the fragmented image there, it definately looks like HMS Wallace is one of the entries on it.
His record for his service as a rating can be found here, with the service number 272414. Looks like he joined as a Boy Artificer. I think there are entries for Blenheim and Valiant on that one.

Thank you very much for that, Jim. I downloaded his officer's record - yes, definitely the Wallace. Incidentally, ratings records are on Findmypast if you have a sub for it.

It seemed the Wallace kept banging into things:

13 Sep 1939
HMS Wallace (Lt.Cdr. W.M.L. Astwood, RN) is damaged in a collision off Lowestoft with the British merchant Redriff (1577 GRT). Wallace is under repair until 23 October. (this is probably why he was at his home address)

16 Mar 1945
HMS Wallace collided with HMS Farndale off the Humber and considered not worth repairing she was paid off. Being sold to be broken up for scrap 4 days later.
