Default Mr J Hanson

Hi My ex Father in Law was ex CPO Ted West who served with Lord Louis on HMS Kelly, I was very proud of him,and enjoyed the reunion dinner with
Lord Louis all thsoe years ago. What an expierince felt humbled.
The other reason why I joined this website was to find out if anybody hasa a photo of HMS Royalist,or of her crew as I am very interested in finding out any information on a Chief Petty Officer Horatio Penrose who served on board till the end of Hostilities.( I did speak toa Mr Jagger some years ago who
was responsible for arranging the renuinion dinnerson HMS Royalist, he knew
The request forms part of background material of a book I am working on
which relates to reports of strange phenomenon seen by servicemen, whatever branch going back to the 1940's.
Hope to hear from anybody re the above, by the way 'Ted's daughter Christine lives in LA she has her own Kelly Bar by the Pool, have enjoyed many stays there over the years!

Hello Mr Hanson,
I found this site a few days ago and have been anxiously waiting for my account to be activated so I could contact you.
I was wondering if you received any information re Horatio Penrose who served on the HMS Royalist? He was my uncle - my father's youngest brother (whom the family called "Rex" for some reason). Their parents separated when my father was about 6 and Horatio about 2. Dad and the middle brother came to Australia with their father about 4 years later. In all that time they only had contact via a few letters during the war. They did not see each other again until my Dad visited Birmingham in 1977, nearly 60 years after their separation.
Unfortunately Horatio died just a couple of years after the reunion so they did not have much time to get to know each other. I have a photo of Horatio in his navy uniform, but the family does not know very much about the intervening years. If anyone knew Horatio, or has any information or stories they could share (from naval life, the war years or other times) my family would be very grateful. Thank you.
Margaret (Penrose)
