Default New French Amphibious Landing Craft EDA-R
The French DGA (Directorate General for Armaments) took delivery of the first new Amphibious Landing Craft (EDA-R) for the Navy on November 24th.

Based on the earlier L-CAT Landing Catamaran, it is designed for landing troops and military vehicles from ships positioned "beyond 30 nautical miles (55kms) from the shore

The 30 metre long and 12 metre wide vessel has a payload of 80 tons and a speed of 18 knots fully loaded (5 times the existing landing craft in service)

The French Navy has ordered four such vessels,the others will be delivered by mid-2012.

She is shown here with a quintet of T-class submarines on her starboard side, whilst an elderly L-Class begins to move away having completed replenishment. HMS Medway was sunk on 30th June 1940 having been torpedoed by U-372 off Alexandria.

Half Price! - £1400.00 		On 29th and 30th April 1944, while surfaced close to jagged reefs, and Japanese shore guns, the USS Tang rescued 22 downed flyers from Task Force 58s strikes against enemy positions on the islands - This was the largest rescue of airmen by a submarine in the war. USS Tang (SS-306) would later be sunk by its own torpedo off Formosa, on the 24th of October 1944.

The Sturmgeschutz III of Leutnant Heinz Deutsch, Stug-Brigade XII, and paratroops of 7th Fallschirmjager Division counterattacking the Allied advance into the Reichswald forest in the final months of the war. The small Stug brigade numbering at its peak only 30 assault guns was responsible for the destruction of 250 allied tanks, Deutsch's gun claiming 44 of that total.
