Re: RCN WWII BPC Motor Torpedo Boat

John: Great photo. For the record I was in the first year that ROUTP(Army) was conducted in 1969.

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: Remember the CP 140 is only scheduled to fly until 2030. The Cyclone will be with us for up to 50 years-2068!!! We will need our own life extensions to see that date!!!

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: It is development program and it has all the challenges that go with it. However, Canada gets the equivalent of a fully up to date Maritime Patrol Aircraft at the end of development.

Tim: The first deployment of the Cyclone will likely be in mid 2018 on a frigate deployment.

Re: The State of the Canadian Navy in 2017

I believe the Asterix will arrive in Halifax in November and will deploy to the Pacific in Spring 2018. I think it is premature to debate potential purchase of the vessel until the lease arrangement...

Re: RCN pilot 1958 parts found

I note the "American know nothing press" have no idea where Shearwater is located.

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: You need not worry! Block 2 will be fully viable and Block 1.1 will be more capable than the present Sea King.

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: I think the Block 2 is fully capable across all sensor and weapons systems carried. Block 1.1 is slightly less capable but I think these issues are not for public discussion.

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: The Cyclones have significant capability at this time. The Block 1.1 is flying here at Shearwater and that has the bits necessary for Initial Operational Capability (IOC) status. Block 2 is in...

Re: CH148 Cyclone Has Arrived

Tim: The transition to the Cyclone from the Sea King seems to proceeding well at the moment. I see Cyclones in the air more often than Sea Kings these days.

Re: HMCS Goose Bay

Navy Stoker: I would have thought the RWS came off the South African RG31 vehicles that we used in Afghanistan. Those vehicles have now been replaced in the Army.

Re: HMCS Queenston Class: Joint Support Ship

XYZ: I doubt that there is a plan to purchase MV Asterix, however, any change in the world situation might provide ample reason for such action.

Re: RAN Task Group Deployments

The RAN is to be congratulated on deploying this Task Group so early after the commissioning of the LHDs. Like Scatari, I wish the RCN was able to deploy a significant task group but that will have...

Re: HMCS Queenston Class: Joint Support Ship

Tim: I think the change to traditional oiler names is a better solution than some forgotten War of 1812 battles. Perhaps Asterix might become HMCS Provider if the RCN acquire ownership and commission...

Re: Project Resolve - An "interim" AOR

Tim: I think the first major deployment will see Asterix supporting the planned 2018 deployment of two frigates in the Pacific Ocean area.

Re: New Gunshield Art

From time to time pictures of the existing gun art on the Halifax Class ships show up on the press. I am not certain how many ships sport such art.

Re: HMCS Goose Bay

Tim: At one time the 25mm gun was rumoured for installation on the Kingston Class but, as it is now known, they are destined for the Harry Dewolfe Class.
