Hi Deks, I'm sorry I can't help you with your 'Diomede' project but I do wish you complete success and hope you will keep us abreast of your progress.
Meanwhile, there may be some inspiration for you in the following attachment. I have no idea on its particulars - just found it on the internet and fell in love with it. :)

I try to make my own 'stuff' and when placed alongside all the relevant drawings everything is the correct height, width etc. It obviously still needs all the ancillaries putting onto it and I ACCEPT this might not be the same director as you require but I am posting this just to give you an idea of what you can try (no doubt make a much better effort).
Piece of scrap balsa, cork from a bottle and two cardigan buttons
Deks............Airfix used to do a Leander Frigate in 1/72, probably still be able to get kit on e-bay?
Leanders had the MRS Mk.3 Director.........the Mk.6 was associated with the Flyplane 5 Control system.....as used in Cathedral Class.

Hi Scurs,
1/72 is one heck of a size for a Airfix kit of a frigate. I am guessing the model will be well over one metre in length??
The only Airfix kit I have seen is 1/600 (http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/dio/hms/argonaut-600-fs/fs-index.html)
Don't forget I was only pointing out how we can scratch build parts for larger models and I pointed out the director I was illustrating was not\might not be the same type :)
There are 1/72 (http://www.fleetscale.co.uk/system/index.html) models available and the are approximately 62" x 6.75" length and width... That would be some Airfix box :)
er...........um..................:o

62" in 1/72 and several operational in Task Force 72 in Oz including my Cleopatra.
Fleetscale do all versions of them in 1/72 these days.
That photo loks like Geoff Eastwood's Leander.

Hey Deks,
Fleetscale is the place to go mate, I get most of fittings from them. Check out modelwarships uk and you find loads of advice and pictures. I have a Leander at 1/96 and a Leander and a 42 in 1/72.
All the best.
