Thought I'd share, what one day may be a medal collectors / family researchers nightmare...!!!

My wife's medals are in the process of being remounted. The group is not that unusual as many members of the Australian Defence Force have these particular medals. What is unusual is that all 3 of her medals have different particulars engraved on them. Her medals (in order of being awarded) are;

The Australian Service Medal - ASM (with clasps Bougainville & Solomon Islands)
The Australian Defence Medal - ADM
The Defence Long Service Medal - DLSM

Particulars

Her ASM was awarded to her prior to marriage - to K.A. Page W152 798 (circa 1996)
Her ADM was awarded to her after marriage - to K.A. Thresher W152 798 (circa 2006)
Her DLSM was awarded to her after the Australian Defence Force changed their service numbering system - K.A Thresher 8096491 (2011)

I suppose that with females serving in just about every role in every war / operation / theatre / peace keeping mission since the First Gulf War (and earlier) that this issue will become more and more common...

I have included a few photos (sorry about the standard) for reference - the Green medal is the ASM, the Red the ADM and the Blue and Yellow medal the DLSM.

Anyway just thought I'd share.

Cheers :)

Thank you kersim for sharing your wife's medals for the Australian Defence Force-given that they are engraved ,as opposed to impressed ,the engraving
is very likely to be different-different engraver-different style.Very nice all the same
