The picture was taken in 1918. It is 18,000 men preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge in Iowa. A gift from our grandfathers. ..

I'm blowed if I can make out what this pic is about.

I must add that it's a shame they weren't preparing for war in 1915!

Have you clicked on the thumbnail pic and then clicked on it again when it opened?
It is two US divisions saying goodbye when they went to France.

It is true that America went late and not when the war started, but with the Russian front over and the Germans moving hundreds of divisions to the Western Front, it is my opinion that Germany could have won the war if America had not entered when it did.

Yesssssss, I did enlarge it. It still wasn't clear to me.

The Germans moved their forces to the Western Front long before the Americans appeared.

But I accept that a factor in the war ending was the fear the Germans had of the likely build-up of US troops.
