I'm trying to find descendants of Royer Dick. He served in the RN from 1914-1952. His first wife was Agnes Harben and they had two children: Belinda born about 1930 and Timothy, born about 1931, who was a Marine Lt. killed in Cyprus in 1956. His second wife was Vera nee Henry, widow of the late Colonel Bertram Pott.

Would appreciate any additional information.

Thanks
Steve Addison

Hi Steve... did a couple of searches for you on sites I use for Family History... there is a birth entry for Royer Mylius Dick March 1898 in Kensington. There is also an emigration record which i will try and attach here for you.

To find exisiting descendents is not too difficult if you have access to the right sites, I am happy to look into for you if you would like, just message me.

Hi Cissy

Thanks for your prompt response, much appreciated.

Yes Royer was indeed born in Kensington, London 14 Oct 1897. He died on 23 Apr 1991 at Headbourne Worthy, Winchester.

Agnes Mary Harben (first wife) was born 1903 and died before 2005.

Thanks would be most grateful if you could shed some light on her and their daughter Belinda. Re their late son, it appears he was single when he was killed aged 25.

Regards
Steve

Hi Steve,

Yes, I saw the death entry. He had a good long innings! I will have a look for you, it may take a few days, but I will do it and get back to you (not at PC much at weekends...the children being home and all that!)

cissy

Oh by the way... fascinating career the man had! What is your connection to him if you don't mind me asking?

I thought I'd leave the forum for awhile to give someone else a shot John. Probably wasn't missed by the look of it. Don't know what to read as there is so much. Didn't think it was our forum at first.

One of you is saying 1897, the other 1898!

Yup... because although his birthday is in 1897, the birth was not registered until first quarter of 1898 (quite normal) I can only look up birth records, not actual birthdays.

John... thanks for that, I saw that earlier, but we are looking for descendents.

Sailor..thankyou for your welcome! Good to see you back :D

tsk... it IS Sunday after all and I was up late partaking in the evils of vodka!

actually getting a bit concerned that my interest in the Royal Navy is causing consternation on the home front... my partner, on leaving for a trip to tesco's for me said "Oh and while I'm out I'll make sure there are no Navy Boats parked outside!" to which I replied, yep and instead of cooking lunch, I am going to read my book on Jutland!!! Pfft!

Ah! A SIW then.

A well trained partner - off to tescos.

But as you said, your boy is clearly interested in your activities. So that's 1 all.

Hi Cissy

Thanks, yes he had a remarkable career. He is related through his first wife who was a distant cousin of mine.

Would be grateful if you could find out about his wives and daughter.

Thank you.
