Does anyone know of the 'white ensign scheme' which existed from 1941? Carlton Jackson in Who will take our children says this was the scheme whereby all captains of UK warships were allowed to take whomever they desired as a passenger. It got very controversial by 1944 because the privelege was abused eg Etonian boys got free trips., plebs didn't. pp 158-9.
Thanks.

I have searched extensively through literally scores of websites; and the straight answer is, there was nothing found for either White or Red Ensign Scheme in WW2.
Looking at what you said about boys being invited on to HM ships during wartime is difficult to comprehendand; I feel that "Open Days" on HM ships unlikely, but not impossible.
Boy ratings and Boy cadets (midshipmen) were part of a warships crew however.
I did try but I 'm sorry to say that I found nothing relevant to you question.
