I am trying to find out information regarding the signal platoon in the 2nd Buffs as my father was serving with them between 1942-1946 in Malaya. I have several photos of his that he sent home to my mother with places that he was at the time. Can anyone give me any information or point me in the right direction where I might find out more information about him and his platoon.
Many thanks

If you Google ... buffs ... you'll get various references to Regimental museums and records.

When I was in the Home Guard 1940-41, before I joinedthe navy,we belonged to the Royal West Kents Regiment, our cap badge was a rampant horse Invicter Doug.Birch.

First of all are we looking for a Buffs (EAST KENT) or a ROYAL WEST KENT
Battalion? I doubt the the existance of a WEST KENT BUFFS unit. The 4th RWK battalion was in Burma from 3/45 ti 8/45, which latter date was the end of WW2. After the war troops were deployed to areas formerly in Japanese hands but I cannot find mention of 4RWK,who I can only assume went home.
The first mention of the RWK post war; is 1st Battalion in Malaya from3/51 to
1/54 and this would their tour of duty at an end.-they did very well indeed.
I an pretty sure there will be a Regimental History of the RWK ,certainly for WW2, but thereafter I don't know-you can put in a request for a book loan-
I did on many occasions.
