Here is a page with info on the ship:

http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/revenge.htm

and it does have one photo of 'stokers' on it, but I think its probably later than 1919, although it doesn't have a specific date with it. There are some other good crew photos on the page, but again, none with specific dates and / or identification of the crew other than they are from HMS Revenge, or definitely aren't stokers.

Hi,
Would anyone know if this is the same revenge as in 1875 or would there be a different one as my Great Great Uncle served on the Revenge from 29th May 1875 - 7th Oct 1875 according to his service records.

The Revenge you are referring to is the previous Revenge:

The seventh Revenge

1850 Built at Pembroke. Screw steamshio. 5,600 tons. 28 guns.
1890 Transferred to the Clyde Industrial Ship Association and renamed Empress

According to Ships of the Royal Navy; Colledge it was a base ship during the dates you have given, in fact from 1872 to 1891.

I believe the Veterans Agency has the records of personnel after 1923, you will find information at this link:
http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_records/service_records.html
Not sure if they would also be able to help before that date but, generally, the older personnel records 1873 to 1923, are held by the National Archives at Kew, and you will find further information at this link:
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/royal-navy-service.asp
Needless to say, you will have to pay for the information.
Good luck with your search.

Jim

Hello Mudlover, my grandfather, Jacob Newell was a stoker on Revenge, May 1916, unfortunatley he died in 1930, ten years before I was born. Who knows, they may have been friends.
