View Full Version : Book Donations
I remember when I was on the Terra Nova the ship's library (what there was of it) consisted of mostly donated books. Does anyone know if this is still the practice, and is there a central location to ship them to?

When I served in TERRA NOVA (76-81) I remember the ship's library was full of Dusters and Sci-fi novels. I also remember James Clavel's "Shogun" being passed around during the 78 Far East deployment.

Jim,
All the ships have a grant fund for thier 'library' upkeep. My experience on an MCDV is that we would go to the bookstores and pick up a collection of books ot appeal to a wide range of interests and place them in the library. I personally read more classics in my rack than I did in school (Moby Dick, Heart of Darkness, Count of Monte Cristo etc). The libraries also get filled up by books left from the crew.
I would suggest that if would like to donate just send them to a ship, base libray or your local cadet corps could also use them.
