Hi all,

Just got to tell you about the fantastic author we are fortunate to have within this forum, Alaric Bond, who has just recently released his third book (True Colours) in his Fighting Sails series.

So far I have read the first of these 3 books ( His Majesty's Ship) and I'm currently partway through the 2nd book, *(The Jackass Frigate). I was going to wait 'til I'd finished reading all three....but these are such a good read I had to let you know about them now.

They're set in the 18th century and our Alaric has a unique ability to transport the reader back in time. Honestly...you feel like you're actually there and seeing the world of sailors through their eyes. This is a form of "living history" at it's best.

For further information you might like to check this out:

'bye for now....I'm off to read a *book I'm enjoying.

Cheers,

Bee :)

p.s. I asked (our very modest) Alaric if he'd mind me mentioning his books here (likewise I also asked one of our Moderators). Anyway....I got an affirmative from both parties. Also Alaric has kindly offered to answer any questions anyone might have re: his books

I have seen these advertised and have been tempted to get them, I like the idea that there are views of the lower deck included and not just the Officer class, giving a more fuller insight into what it was like back then, your recommend has tipped the scales, Time to start badgering the other arf!

Francis....you're in for a good read. Also, I'm sure that your wife will enjoy reading the Fighting Sails series too.

Alaric....no need to blush. :) We've got a lot of quite talented people here on this forum. Your talent is in writing great stories which you seamlessly tie in with historical facts. ( You don't happen to be a reincarnated sailor, do you?) I'm hoping that one day your stories might find themselves made into movies - so even more people can enjoy them.

By the way, for those of you interested in the old sailing ships, I'd say it'd be worth your while to check out The Age of Sail section advertised (at top of pages) by this forum...with artists, the likes of Ivan Berryman who have exquisite detail in their paintings (which, I believe, can take them 6 or more months to complete.)

Regards,
Bee :)

Thanks Bee and Alaric. I'm an avid collector of Patrick O'Brian and Alexander Fullerton in particular and had not heard of this series. Looking forward to discovering a new author.
