Hello,

Firstly does anyone wish to see a few pictures of OP Blyskawice 1940-1942? I have the band, spud bashing, Narvik , Dunkirk hunting u boats with depth charges and crew on leave in UK during that time in Cowes, Birmingham and Glasgow, I believe.

Secondly does anyone recognise the attached badge please found amongst my deceased fathers, Adam Rosiek, artifacts. He served on this ship for 2.5 years 1940-1942.

Hello Wojceich Rosiek and welcome the Forum. I am sure the photographs will be of great interest to some of our members. Please consider posting them in the Polish section of the Forum. If you have any problems uploading the photos do not hesitate to ask for help. (I have also cropped your attachment to cut out most of the blank area). Whilst the badge shows the Polish white eagle, I am not sure of the significance of the pattern surrounding it.

Hi Wojciech.Welcome to the forum.I think the badge you posted was the General Polish Armed Forces Badge, special worn with pride by the Free Polish Forces based in Britain. We would all be interested in seeing your photos. An aid to posting then is displayed int he FAQ section of the newly joined members.
Many Regards Steve.

I have a question about the Blyskawice; I have a copy of the old Warship journal that has an article about Blyskawice and Grom and states that the ships had four boilers. Every other reference I've seen on-line says they had three boilers which would match the typical British layout of the time. Since the ship is still in existence someone must know for sure; when built, did they have three boilers or four?

Thanks

Three main boilers to supply steam for turbines + an auxilliary one for heating and steam supply for deck auxilliaries when in harbour.
