Richard, that's a fine looking model so far. Thanks for posting the photo's of it onto the forum.
There are several members here who are into model ships so there's plenty of interest, others like myself just marvel at the genius of you fella's being able to have the ability and patience to build them.
Keep us updated and good luck with it all.
Regards
Alan
Richard, that is a fine looking ship. Please keep us informed on progress.

Hi all just an update on R/C model of HMS Ocean 9ft 6inch long! 1/72 scale
i should have her all done in 4 weeks, she will have a working front deck lift with the band of the royal marines on and when it comes up it will play life on the ocean wave, heart of oak,and sunset. it has 186 led lights all port holes and flight deck and island light up white for running and red for battle stations has two morse code lights on the island which flash with the sound to match, two working radars, and a smoke unit, working anchors, and battle sounds while in red light mode, it should be on Anglia TV,and the local papers when she is all done, but here are some pictures of her so far.
still have lots to do.....!!

Richard you are not running a lease/lend prog are you?
HMG needs a few a/c carriers asap so you might make a bit of dosh if you get an early offer in!!
Nice looking vessel congrats!

Hi and thanks very much, the two pictures from the left show what I can supply (without cutouts). This colossus carrier, if anyone wants one it is made of fibreglass and this is what you get the hull and the deck and the island and funnel, you can have the deck fixed to the hull or free floating all the cut outs on the hull are pre-marked for cutting out with a dremel (see 2 pictures from the right) I can do the cutouts for an extra cost. Also I can make it so the hull is in half for easy loading into a car with the seats down. as you may well know there were 10 ships in this class so there is alot of choice. Please send me a personal message if you are interested in one and I will give you the price.
Many thanks....

Thanks for that Richard, looking very good .
Glad to see your Model Workshop is just like mine mate ..."Operational" ...as I say to my Grandson
My models run on 12v sealed lead acid batteries and I use a unit from Action to power up my various lights , sounds , pumps ,servo's , receiver, and switching gear motors. steam generators etc
Bit of a shoe horn job but it works well enough [my manxman is only 4ftx5"x12"tall] and I have fitted a 6amp sound amplifier so that I have no trouble hearing it when its on a asdic/sonar sweep on the lake

Hi Richard ,
Sorry for the late response to your post .
Well done you It looks wonderful and as a fellow modeler I know how much effort goes into that type of project .....but if you could buy them off the shelf it would be no challenge would it ...and little pride in the end product .
Well Done mate ....I include my model of HMS MANXMAN as requested

Hi Richard ,
Very impressive .............I must get my but over to Norwich as I have a few friends who have been to see your "open" days there , and all have said how good it was ........and unlike our club you have more models of working Sub's .
The Lake looks good to .........we also use a Lake at Histon behind the Holiday Inn but not as flash as yours I hasten to add.
Regards Ivor

Hi all,
here are some pictures of the model war ship day which was on the 16th may the next one i will be holding is on the sunday 12th sept 2010 if you which to come along it starts at 10am - 5pm ,the entrance is on south park avenue see the Marshall he will then open the gate to the park for you once on the park you must dive at 5mph with your hazards and dipped lights on to the pond edge so no walking to do..!! there will be lots of model war ships and sub as well along with life boats,tugs,ect...the band of the royal marines cadets will be there and the local sea cadets all in uniform to enhance the day.
i am now doing a web site and will be selling the shells so you will be able to buy one of these models and make it into one of the ten in it's class.
here is the link www.colossusmodels.com it's not finished yet but you can see what it will look like.
that's it for now.
Richard.
Absolutely brilliant, Richard!
You could post this on the websites of the individual Colossus class carrier associations and get some business from many more.
Great stuff!
Keep us informed.
Best wishes
I have moved these posts from HMS Ocean, The ship as it was going way off topic with the models

Hi Richard,
very well done on a complex and speedy build of HMS OCEAN.:)
Your suggestion in the video clip that your OCEAN was a 'one of' is, I'm afraid, erroneous. Attached is an image of the other 1:72 scale OCEAN which came from the mould that you purchased last year in Portsmouth. This 12 year old OCEAN belongs to my very good friend Robbie Robertson and is seen here in company with my 1:72 scale HMS RODNEY.
However, it's great to know that your OCEAN revives memories of your Dad in his RM days and that in a very short space of time you have managed to recreate a wonderful model which is packed with very interesting detail. The Royal Marine Band (probably the greatest military band in the world) coming up on the aircraft lift is an excellent addition!:D Anything 'mobile' on a model gives it added interest and the whirling blades on the choppers are a lovely touch too.:)
Once again, very well done and I wish you many hours of enjoyment and fair winds.;)

Hi All,
Here is an update of the last model war ship day we had at Eaton park Norwich, on the 12th Sept 2010 this time we had the Band of the Royal Marine Cadets playing for us too.!! Our next event is on sunday 8th May 2011 at Eaton park Norwich, were the RMCB (901 Troop) will be attending again. it's open day so if you would like to come along for the day you are more than welcome you can drive staight into the park from south park avenue, right up to the pond edge. So no walking to do, as my guest's you will have free tea & coffee all day.!!
Thats it for now.
All the best.

An incredibly impressive piece of work, Richard.
I see your deckhand in the pink pants is a naval enthusiast as well, and cute as can be. And the Captain on the bridge seems quite proud of his new command.
I was most impressed by the fact you were able to create a "non-skid" flight deck coating. Any secrets to reveal on how you did that?
Truly an impressive piece of work, especially when lit!
Thanks for posting the photos, you did the memory of the old Ocean and the Royal Marines proud.

If any of you are modellers; you may be interested to know that 1/700th scale models, of HMS Hermes, are due to be released next year. Three versions are scheduled to cover different time periods.
The news can be found in this post, about the company's HMS Ocean kit, a few replies down.

The above post was originally posted in a thread covering HMS Hermes as I thought that the news that there was to be a kit, of Hermes, available might have been of interest to former members of the ship's crew. It was moved without warning so that is why it turned up here.
