Have you read Hagues Book? and of course Clay Blairs?

I will attach the details .... these are books which everyone who is interested in the Battle of the Atlantic should read ... Tarrants is a short course while Blair is the long and extremely detailed one. Hesslers is interesting from the point of view he did not know about Enigma so its an uncoloured view.

hagues is a must read if you are going to understand the Convoy aspect ... excellent detail..... lays a load of myths too.

Thanks. I'm ashamed to admit I've neglected my reading in recent years, so I'll definitely have a look for/at these. I've read Van Der Vat though, and I use the Arnold Hague website a lot. Talking of Enigma, I had the pleasure last year of staying with Cdr Baker-Cresswell's son and daughter-in-law - they farm near Newcastle, and take in guests. He had some interesting memories and souvenirs of his father, and the U110 incident.
