I thought members might like to see a 1/96 model of HMS Penn of operation pedestal fame. I normally build large r/c scale detailed aircraft but was asked by a neighbour if I could make a model of the ship his father served on during WW2. He was a pom pom gunner on HMS Penn on Malta runs and was on board during the assistance given to the 'Ohio' by HMS Penn and HMS Ledbury.
The model has been based on admiralty plans and dockyard rigging drawings, web research, phots etc. She is entirely scratch built from ply, balsa and plastics/wire etc. She is fully functional as an r/c scale model including rotating and elevation on main guns. The only items bought were two electric motors, prop shafts and props. R/c gear was an older system I had spare with 3 servos and speed controller.

Paul, welcome to the forum.

Your model is a stunning example of scratch built.

If I could ask what photo's did you use for this model, I have one of her which has a slightly different configuration.
If you still have them could you upload them....

Perhaps we could see some of your aircraft models too..

Regards
Alan
