Dear Sirs,hello!:
My question is about to know the order the battle of the French Navy in Djibouti (French East Africa) during the Second World War concretly between 1939-40,I don´t know what type of warships had the French Navy in Djibouti and who was the commander in chief of those naval forces.I think that French Navy had to have warships deployed there because the Allied forces led by the Gen. Le Gentilhomme was going to launch an attack against the Italian East Africa joined to British forces deployed in the British Somaliland.If anybody knows some information about it I woull like very much to know it.

Much thanks for your information.When Italy entered in the war alongside to Germany in June 1940,had the French Navy some other warship more furthermore of the aviso-colonial "Bouganville"?.

In the wonderful page of the Order the Battle of Leo Nierhorster in the French Army deploy refer to Djibouti appear the name of aviso colonial Bougainville and below appear the following small text: 1 Po-452,What is this?.

Hi Pedro - The Bougainville class was a type of colonial aviso or sloop of the French Navy of the 1930's that were designed to operate in remote locations of their Empire.

But i m not sure that plane was used.

Bougainville classe can embark one aircraft but in fact no aircraft were embarked.

In the summer of 1939, "Division Navale de L'Afrique Occidentale Francaise" was Capitaine de Vaisseau C.J.G. Clancon from 10 August 1938.
Side bar. Clancon born 19 September 1886 and in grade from 5 July 1933.
