Dear friend Terry,hello!:
I have found the history in Italian language of the Italian submarine "Ferraris",this warship belonged to the "Italian Red Sea Force" deployed in the Massawa harbour (Eritrea) between 1940-41,there the Italian Navy had deployed eight submarines (six were oceanic submarines and two were coastal submarines of the named "600 Class").The "Ferraris" was a Italian submarine of the type oceanic submarine,I think that the Ferraris belonged to the Cavallini Class, but the problem is that the history of the "Ferraris" is written in Italian language, dear friend Terry can you traslate to English language with your wonderful program the history of the "Ferraris"?.
Terry, dear friend, receive you a great and beautiful salute from your friend:

Terry !sorry!:
I have forgot to put in the former posting the history of the "Ferraris".Here go!.
REGIO SOMMERGIBILI "FERRARIS"

Rientra l'1/9/1940
5/9/1940 Agguato al largo delle isole Dahlach. Rientra l'8/9/1940
20/10/1940 Agguato in Mar Rosso lungo le rotte nemiche. Rientra il 23/10/1940
24/11/1940 Agguato in Mar Rosso, non rileva traffico nemico. Rientra il 28/11/1940
3/12/1940 Agguato sul parallelo di Masamaruh. Rientra l'8/12/1940
23/12/1940 Agguato al largo di Porto Sudan. Rientra il 30/12/1940
20/1/1941 Agguato fra Gebel Tair e Gebel Zucur. Rientra il 26/1/1941
IN ROTTA VERSO L'ATLANTICO

Francesco Rubino
Ufficiale alle armi, Guardiamarina Giovanni Castronovo
Sottocapo Abusco Tomas Scotto
Sottocapo Gherardo Zorzi
Comune Antonio De Seta
Comune Pierino Fiori

Dear Sirs hello!:
I am studing the history of the Italian oceanic submarine "Ferraris" and I am reading the history of the Ferraris in the former posting and I have a doubt, the "Ferraris" fought as corsarian vessel in the Spanish Civil War sinking Republicans merchant-cargo ships in the Mediterranean after the Ferraris was sent to the Massawa harbour and she was alistated in a submarine squadron and few time before that the Italians troops were defeated in Keren battle the Ferraris joined to others submarines went out from Massawa with destinity the Betasom base in Bourdeox (France),in one moment of the history I have lost because the Ferraris was deployed in the Black Sea and when she attacked one gunboat (Soviet or British,I don´t know) the Ferraris had problems with the Metile Chloride and the crew poisoned.Anybody can clear this question and to complet this history?.
Much thanks and one salute from Ciudad Real (Spain):

Are you sure that FERRARIS operated in the Black Sea?

Hello Patroclus!:
Much thanks for your very fast answer!,really therefore I recur here because in the history of Ferraris (traslation of Italian language) in the former posting I have read the following (it is very strange):
"THE African missions of Spain after the war and until his departure from Massawa in March 1941 the Ferraris was engaged in the Black Sea for almost a year of ambush offensive missions"
Therefore I would like to know this enigma or mistake.
Best regards Patroclus.

Hello Pedro:
War began between Italy and Great Britain in June of 1940. At that time FERRARIS was in Massawa, I think, and she remained based there until she departed for France via the Cape of Good Hope in March, 1941. I do not see how she could have got to the Black Sea (even ignoring international treaties). I think the reference to "Black" Sea is a mistake - it should be "Red" Sea.
The Italian submarines in the Red Sea were older boats operating in a harsh climate and suffered many malfunctions in their air-conditioning systems - there were frequent cases of chlorine gas poisoning. (vide Captain M.A. Bragadin of the Royal Italian Navy).

Hello Patroclus!:
Much thanks for your reply, the thing has joke,I believe that all this confusion is due to the mistake of the traslate program Italian-English,the program is a machine isn´t a person therefore the program doesn´t think say it.
Patroclus very much thanks for your explanation!.
Best regards
Pedro

BTW: Pedro mentioned also the coastal subs, the 600s. I touched one :-) or what remains of her. The "Medusa", sank after a torpedo hit shot from a british sub.
