Hi Phil ....... Don't recall her being a stealth Destroyer [or Light Cruiser as they were known] ....... only being facetious ....... post the photo. I, as a fellow Modeller always look forward to seeing other Modellers results, and most of them are great.

Great model, Phil. The ship is very nicely done, but I especially like the fact that you seem to have gotten the bow wave and wake "as they would really look" -- not and easy task!
Enjoyed the pictures
Regards,
Here is a photo of HMS DIAMOND taken around about 1964 at Portsmouth passing HMS DOLPHIN, I served in her as a Petty Officer as Captain of the Quarterdeck and Diving Supervisor(Free Diver).

This is a lovely model Phil and your detail is superb. Your presentation is of Diamond in her early years 1953 and my recollections are of her in 1963-65. She had been altered quite a bit. The after torpedo tubes were removed and a Junior Ratings messdeck placed there and two Sea Cat Launchers fitted over that, one each side with four missiles; which alas were never actually utilised. Also the Gunnery Control Director which was a Mark 6 Director was replaced by a Radar controlled system MRS 3. I served two years in her. Mainly as a Second Officer of the Watch under Lieutenant F Hull RN

Phil: Over the weekend I have shown your posts to several "week-end" modeller friends. All were in agreement as to the exceptional quality of your builds, and each and every one drooled at your ability to create an absolutely realistic ship's bow wave and wake. I pointed them to your "how to" post on the other forum.
Truly exceptional skill in shipbuilding and presentation. Hope you will keep posting you fine finished products!

Many thanks for the kind comments, gentlemen. Some of you will have noticed that I haven`t put a pennant number on the model, this is because, when first completed ,their "Lordships" couldn`t decide whether the Darings should be classed as destroyers,`cos of their large size,so they referred to them as "Daring Class Ships".It wasn`t until the mid-fifties that they were officially classed as destroyers ,and given "D" numbers.
Lord only knows what they would have made of the Modern Darings!!
Cheers Phil
Another fantastic example of model boat building
Can't believe that this is scratchbuilt the details are amazing
