Deck Covering on Cruiser NOVIK

Hi all,

As a modeller of pre-dreadnought era warships I just finished Royal Sovereign 1892 and am now starting on the Russian protected cruiser NOVIK. The resin mold of the deck of the kit shows no engraved deck planking. Could it be that Novik had no wooden decks and that they were all coated in corticene or cemtex, or something similar.

What I'm especially interested in is the color of the stuff.

You've been most helpful.
Several pictures seem to confirm the absence of deck planking.
I think I'll go for what is called "russian brown" for the decks of
my 1/350 Novik model. In the meantime, I'm finishing the rigging of my
1/350 model of HMS Royal Sovereign (1891). She still had impressive masts and looks great in her Victorian paint scheme!

I' m now nearly finished with my 1/350 scale model of cruiser Novik, using photographic material kindly posted on this site for further detailing. The model is a 1/350th scale Russian Combrig model. The quality is superb and building it was a real treat. I shall post pictures of it very soon. I'll be eager to read your comments.
