They must be both based in CADIZ. I say this because I have never seen a Carrier in CARTEGENA.???

Hello Dave.
The Armada main mission is to dominate the axis Cape Trafalgar - Canary Islands. The two main battle groups, Alpha group (carrier Principe de Asturias) and Delta group (LSD Galicia, Castilla and Pizarro), united in the GRUFLOT, are based in the mainland side of those axis, the port of Rota (Cádiz). The LDH Juan Carlos I will join this summer GRUFLOT. However, there are serious doubts whether it can keep operating together the two main vessels.
Cartagena (as Ferrol) has a secondary role today.
PS. This historic case isn't new in the Armada. In 1989 the old Dedalo (R-01, Ex-USS Cabot) sailed wiht the new Prince of Asturias in the Armed Forces Day. However, the Dedalo was decommisionated the previous year. It was a well-deserved farewell after 21 years of service in the Armada and 24 in the US Navy. Now the Principe de Asturias, with 21 years of service, is in the middle of its operating life awaiting modernization.
