Naval Boxing Medal

If you use this link to my Dads page here and scroll down you can see his Boxing medal I have yet to see another such medal anywhere on the net or otherwise I would guess it is rare? This was won and awarded at HMS St George Isle of Man

Wellbran has your father's medal got his name and details on the rim of the medal-if so what does it say please?? Naming always adds provenance and thus value.

I would guess that seeing St. George and the Dragon on the reverse that this is a ships issue for inter crew sports.
I assume that one may have been issued yearly. You will see many ships sports medals that come up on E-bay and at various sales throughout the country and while of interest depending on the ship I fear that they would proberly only be collectable in with the holders full size service medals.
I must admit that I would never think of buying one on its own but that is just me. I do not think that it would ever be considered rare but nice to have to a family member.

Dave- I think you have "hit the nail" squarely on the head-without his service medal, the value of the single medal,particularly if unnamed;drops considerably-sorry about that Wellbran

Sorry all for not responding here I had forgot about this thread! OK I can answer your questions now, the medal was won at the boys training at HMS St George Douglas isle of man my Fathers name is stamped on it. I am not really bothered about the VALUE of it so much as to find out how rare they are as I have not seen any like it anywhere or seen them online. the name is not on the rim but on the face on the bottom
