Today the mourning ceremony for Polish Navy C-in-C Adm. Andrzej Karweta took place. He died in the aircraft crash off Smolensk. His body was brought to Poland only last Friday.
Here are few photos.
1. The ceremony took place in the harbour. The Holy Mass was held on board of museum destroyer BLYSKAWICA - here seen with naval and military standards lined on deck.
2. Since Adm. Karweta spent some years on the minesweepers the FLAMING also attended the ceremony. French minesweeper SAGGITAIRE attended too, on behalf of NATO navies.
3. Admiral's coffin was placed by the BLYSKAWICA's gangway and Polish admirals took turns as honorary guard.
4-7. Polish warships present at the ceremony: ORKAN, METALOWIEC, KASZUB and HYDROGRAF. There was also the PIAST (rescue vessel), but I was unable to take a photo of her.
