Does anyone know what has happened to Sirmar? I got no reply on the contact phone number over the past two weeks. Now today there is a message when you ring it 'this number does not take incoming calls'. I also get no response to my emails. Have they gone? Pity if they have.

Hi,
Have you tried asking on the Model Boat Mayhem forum ?

The owner of Sirmar posts on there sometimes and has mentioned recently that his other career has been taking up more of his time recently.

Hope they have not gone was about to order a few bits.

Regards

Danny

Hi Marc,

Sirmar stopped trading some time ago now - but all is not lost - someone else took it on under a new name - looking for it now - so watch this space.

I spoke (email!) to Paul at Sirmar a couple of weeks back. He has been having server problems for some time.

If you look at the fleetscale site, they are still selling Sirmar parts for their hulls. They have this note on their site.

Sirmar Fittings
February 1, 2010 by Fleetcom
Fleetscale are still ordering and receiving Sirmar fittings for our semi kits. Delivery of fittings may take upto 2 months due to production difficulties.

You may order Fleetscale semi kits containing Sirmar fittings safe in the knowledge that you will receive them.

Dave H,

Thanks. I've got a big project planned for this summer, HMS Walker, 1:48, and I need loads of bits from them. No one else makes the fittings I need. I'll keep watching.

Marc.

Hi Marc,

Dave H back on watch.

Confirmed Sirmar went out of business as such. Their stock was bought up by "PS Ships" contact Paul Simpson 01744 850975. I haven't personally done any business with PS Ships so I don't know their track record.

Second contact "Precision Controls" in Bideford Devon - John Smith 01237 476820. Now John I know and his stuff is first class [e.g. I recently bought two 40/60 mm Bofor Mounting in 1:48 Scale @ £12.80 each and they were excellent in finish and detail].

Both these guys are recommended by Westbourne's in Bournemouth - a leading retailer for all models.

Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

Dave H,

Thanks for the information. I'll get on to it on Monday morning.
This really is an excellent site.
Thanks all.

FYI Paul Simpson took over Sirmar from Paul Beckley a year or two back.

This model warship forum has the story on sirmar. Seems to either have gone completely or out of action for some time. Pity, I liked his stuff.

Hi Marc ,

Have just finished reading the Mayhem site ..... hope Paul opens up the Website again and clears up any misunderstandings regarding Sirmar. It appears many people have been thinking it had gone en toto. Although I do know people have had trouble getting hold of any parts from several traders.

Apologies if I was instrumental in misleading anyone.

I was in contact with Paul (PS Ships / Sirmar) not to long ago as I was after some parts, he is really busy with the day job and as result the model business is slowing down as he doesn't have the time. I think he is trying his best to supply his customers, I know Paul and have one of his commissions at home. He is very good at what he does and the parts he supplies are 1st class, it would be a great shame to loose this supply of parts.
I myself had to go to Allan Pews down under for my 1/72 scale parts in the end.
The struggle for parts is worth it in the end, I have two great looking Leanders, more than most navies!!!!!

Anyone know what happens to Sirmar?

Gone, the website doesn't open now.

Fleetscale have this notice on their site.

According to Paul Simpson "Sirmar is now closed". As Paul runs/owns Sirmar we must take him at his word as this affects Fleetscale semi kits that use Sirmar fittings. We have not accepted any orders for Sirmar fittings - because of the uncertainty of supply - for some months now, so none of our customers will be inconvenienced.

What can I do? Beccause I am lost contact with Paul and I living in Hong Kong.
Anyone can help how to contact him?

faakeith,

does Allan Pews have a website?

1:72 scale parts are non too prolific these days and our lot (Portsmouth Model Boat Display Team) generally build our 'grey stuff' in this scale.:)

Al doesn't have a website but his email address is

apsmods@bigpond.net.au

He is awaythis weekend down in Canberra for a show there.

Many (most!) of the ships on our website are either APS semi kits or kitted out with APS fittings.

Does anyone know about Sirmar ending production ? I've ordered some fitting this summer, and no news since four month. I've read on previous posts that Paul will run orders taken before his ending production.
Anyone can help how to contact him?
Please!

Hi all,
I lost contact with Paul again for 8 Months now!

I did order a whole set of HMS Peacock and HMS Type 21 from Sirmar Model Since Sept. 2009 and I have paid full payment, but I have not received anything yet.

Can anyone help me to contact him? Because I live in Hong Kong.

Thank you very much!

Sirmar fittings has now re-emerged from the ashes.:)

This week, Barry has finally recovered the business through a great deal of hard work and effort.

He says:

My name is Barry and I have taken over all the Sirmar stuff from Paul.
I can assure you that orders placed will be completed by myself. I have over the past couple of months been completing orders and posting them out and I hope that members of this forum who have received there order will testify.
I am working on the new website which can be viewed at www.sirmarfittings.com. It is still a work in progress and there are no prices on there yet but hope to have it completed soon.
I know that Paul has upset a lot of people and I hope this does not cloud anyone's judgement about Sirmar fittings and what I am trying to do.
Regards
Barry
