I don't know if this is the right thread to post this, perhaps the moderators can redirect as necessary.

I have recently made contact with an old shipmate, run ashore and Exped oppo, Roger Paine, we were on the Victorious together 1957 to 1960, we were both Jack Dusty's, Roger went on to be a three ringer.
Roger has written a great book about his experiences, from his thirty year career, called call the hands.

I thoroughly recommend the book, all matelots will recognise themselves somewhere in one or another of the stories, from the horses mouth all true and not black catting.

Attached is a poster from his local library in Hailsham East Sussex, for a book signing 25th March 1830 to 2000, cheeky b*****s are charging £1.00 entry, but you get grippo sarnies.

If you go, just say you were recommended by me and he will autograph your book and charge £12.00 instead of £10.00, just joking of course.

Barry, I think it's Hms Bristol, the only one of her class, she's the only one to have the dome fitted in front of the bridge like that. The later type 42 didn't.

Alan
