My late father, Victor Joseph Mitchell "Mitch" served in the RCNR from 1940 till the end of the war and one of the vessels he served on was the HMCS Husky. Are there any vets out there who would remember my Dad?

Welcome to the forum Susiemaggiemitchie, apologies for the lateness in someone responding to your joining the forum and the absence of an answer to both your posts.
Hang in there someone will undoubtedly happen along with something of interest for you.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your post from earlier this year regarding armed yacht HMCS Husky. My father, Wilfred "Doc" Shephard served in Husky as ship's Telegraphist from the time of commissioning (ex Wild Duck from New York state), until he was transferred to HMCS Inch Arran as CPO Telegraphist in late 1943/early 1944. I have a great many photos taken by him while serving in Husky of crew (eg: Captain Harry Freeland, Wilf "Yonker" Yarton, Leo LeBreton and others), the ship's mascot ("Joe Husky", a little stray black/white terrier of sorts which the crew picked up in Port of Spain, Trinidad while in port for provisions. Ports of call including Port of Spain, crossing the Bocas del Dragone north of Venezuela, etc. I also have photos of the ship as The Wild Duck from the New York state couple who donated their yacht to the RCN at the outbreak of war.
I would be most interested in communicating with you regarding HMCS Husky, either through this forum or through my personal e-mail address within my profile.
I look forward to sharing this bit of mutual history with you and anyone else who may be interested.

I am sitting here at my desk with tears in my eyes! I can't believe such good news I don't have any photos of my Dad's time in service other than a few snaps of him in his uniform. I sure would love to see what you have and share a few memories. My Dad was known to many as "Mitch". You are welcome to contact me via my email, however I can't recall when I signed up on this site whether I placed it in my profile or not.
btw, My sister is sending me our Father's discharge papers so I can see the dates he actually served on the "Husky". I so look forward to future dialogue with you.
