The Ex FCP 205 Townsville is being restored by volounteers at the Townsville Maritime Museum.
I believe the Gladstone is anchored in Gladstone hasrbour.

The main engines and 1 auxiliary engine on the Townscville have been run successfully. Most of the equipment on board is serviceable.
Any Ex FCPB personnel with memories and memorabilia they would like to donate to the ship would be very welcome

Hi Laurie.Glad to see another old girl being put back into working order, long may this trend continue. We however seem more intent on cutting off funding to restor old warships for the public's pleasure!... Regards Steve.:)

Fremantle boats with their larger MTU's were much preferred by water skiers than the Paxman powered Attack class boats. I much preferred the black bridge windows it seemed to suit them well,I remember taking a US sailor from the USS Fletcher for a quick look at the Townsville and he would have changed navies straight away if he could. he loved it.

Cheers

I'm hoping to get down to see her in June, I have 9 days in Cairns, thinking of flying in for the day. Any advice on getting to and from the airport would be appreciated. She is open at the museum right?

In Cairns should take you about five minutes to HMAS Cairns from the airport you will fly over the base as you come into land at Cairns airport.

Townsville is a fair distance away from Cairns and Gladstone is even further away and is closer to Brisbane.

I will try and get you a contact in Townsville and Gladstone for you. It would be a long way to come only to see the boats from a distance.
