Absolutely beautiful models, all of them. Talisman is a real jewel!

The quality of the models obviously a direct result of the quality of the plans they are based on, modeler's skill level or no. You should be proud you designs are "at sea!"

Now, about those plans for a 1/350 HMS Tiger (WWI)..... :)

Only warships I have drawn to date are the Plover/Peacock class built by Hall Russell. The model of Greta won the Gold Medal at a Model Engieer Exhibition for Don Brown some years ago. There could be a few more about.

I used to love model-making but these days regret i have no opportunity to indulge so am very envious of your quite obvious patience and skill! my dear old dad served in Ashanti during the war which was how i immediately recognised her number, would you know if it was a scratch build or kit derived? I am not sure i could justify a kit anyway as these seem to cost almost as much as the real ship when new!

Not sure Tim, it was taken quite a few years ago now. Try some of the model kit sites such as Deans Marine etc who market GRP kits. Agree with your comments re price, hence continuing to dra plans to encourage scratch builders.

I have just read this message,
re your photo of the Hunan, where is this picture taken? in the UK?
I had a friend who built this same model, also he built the later Hunan, he passed away 2 years ago. He lived out here in Melbourne, Aust. He was a master mariner who worked for the Swires company, and he served on these ships. I will find some photos to post.

I seem to remember in another post re Ashanti, you mentioned you had a fine model of her, custom built. Any chance of posting photographs?? She was a fine ship, and epitomized the "destroyer" of her day. Would love to see a good model of her up close. Especially considerin the close connection you have to the ship.
