There were a lot of info re Russian (former Soviet) AGIs on this forum. Most of us know the USNS Pueblo case.
Below you can see some pics of other AGIs, belonging to other NAVYs.

Curious. The Jasmund, shown in the photo in the first post, was delivered to the DDR Navy in 1985, and after the fall of the Berlin Wall was offered to the Spanish Armada by the German Navy. Acquired in 1992, she was commissioned in the Armada in December 1992 and named Alerta (Warning).

Great, Sir. This fact is well known. Does it mean that in Spanish Navy today she plays the same role?

Some old pictures of "whale hunting ships" below...:)

Polish Navy NAWIGATOR and HYDROGRAF.

Great Marek,

Poland have built a lot of MOMAs fur us and for your own navy as well (I think that Bulgaria has to be mentioned in this list also)

The last time I ran up against a Moma Class was in 1976,during a "Look See" mission in theWhite sea. the 2 ships were were interested in were an old US Victory class merchantman called Svenetcha and a Moma class called Rybachi(if I have spelt their names right) Regards Steve.

Here you are Steve with Rybachiy. At that time she belonged to Hydrografic Dept. Does she looks same way?

Yes she looks exactly the same. She does not appear to be armed.Probably hidden, due to her being officially a Civie ship.We went for a "Bottom look" at her and foulded a cable she had lowered into the sea,she had to cut it away to stop being pulled over.Never found out exactly what she was doing, but she was angry at us and dropped a couple of very large explosive charges on us.They really shook us up,so we legged it away for a couple of days. When we came back,lo and behold the two ships had a Foxtrot Class submarine with them, who was in a foul mood,so we hopped it for good. Regards Steve.:D

Polish Navy BALTYK.
She was laid as a trawler of B-10 class (a big number of those were built for Soviet and Polish fishing industry in 1950s and 1960s).
Completed for Polish Navy as survey ship, she used to carry Polish scientists to Spitzbergen in second half of 1950s. Later she was fitted as an intelligence collector and used as such until mid-1970s.
The photo was probably taken in late 1950s, when she was still employed on hydrographic duties.
When she became a "spy ship" she was one of most secret ships of our Navy and not available for official photography.

Even our American Brothers were at it! Two photos of UUs Pueblo before and after capture, and one of the USS Liberty after Isreali Aircraft attack. It was claimed she was flying a False Flag, but Always mentained by the USN that she flew the Flag of the USA.I guess the Isreali's were hyper-sensitive at the time of the attack. Regards Steve.

Very interesting. Do you have any photoes of old Soviet AGIs like "Ritsa", "Veha", "Neiva" and "Buoy" (logger-type ships)? All of them were used in 50-60.
