Rohwer's Allied Submarine Attacks of WWII says that on December 1 Ursula sank an Italian auxiliary submarine chaser of 108 tons called "V-135/Togo forcing it ashore and destroying it with gunfire. The same book on the next page says it sank "V-135/Togo" in a slightly different location on December 7. I looked in Le navi da guerra italiane 1940-1945 by Bagnasco and Cernuschi and no ship named either V-135 or Togo is listed. I'm curious and see if I can find out more.

Cheers for that Vince, I would be very interested to hear if you do find anymore.

I am in contact with the Telegraphist from Ursula who was part of the gun crew. Upon drawing up towards Togo on the surface, the Italians abandoned without a fight. A boarding party removed anything worth having and two SBS men who were aboard Ursula at the time, lay charges on Togos two depth charges, and in due course, Togo was sent to the bottom.

Though I have a witness account of Togo I dont have any statistics, facts, etc or photos, etc

All I could find out was that she was a 106 ton motorsailor used as a patrol vessel. She would have been very lightly armed. The date of sinking was 1 December.

Stu, I have managed to find out a few facts about UJ 1219:-

She was built in 1943 by Unterweser Schiffsbau S.A.G.Wesermunde.
She weighed 535 tons and was built as a Submarine chaser. She was powered by V.T.E.with exhaust steam turbine and her power was 960 n.h.p and speed 12 knots.
She was sunk by two torpedoes from Soviet U Boat B4 on 20/10/44 at c.Nordkyn.
46 men were declared missing, 13 men were saved and 2 were wounded.
Hope it helps?

Oh shoot, if this engine runs then I'll have three engines and only one boat.. We'll just have to do something about that! Watch the boat resto thread for my 09-10 winter boat project. It just might be a Toon!
