View Full Version : BB New Jersey Photographs
These are a few pics in Oct. I took of the BB New Jersey. The whole album can be seen here. Sorry if some are a little blurry. http://s974.photobucket.com/albums/ae227/bmiller25/USS%20New%20Jersey/?start=0
PS. I'm not a freak. The hand in the toilet was to show how small it was. You had to be a sniper to hit it.

Hi bmill25.
Welcome to the forum - great shots of NJ .... they are manna from heaven for any model ship builder engaged on producing a BB.
Keep posting.

Nice shots. thanks for posting them for us. I had no idea the Olympia was so close to the NJ. Right across the river! I hope to visit them next time I am up in that area!
Yeah, its directly across the river. The USS Becuna, a WW2 sub, is very near there also. I wanted to tour the Olympia and Becuna, but they were both closed because of some big tattoo festival.
Excellent Photo's! Nice to see she being taken care of in her retirement, a well deserved rest.

A beautiful ship, and many of the guides there actually served on her. The first-hand knowledge of the guides makes the tour better than most.

Great set of photos -- nice to see what's happening on the other side of the ocean with one of the Iowa's compared to the events around Missouri here in Hawaii.
As to the urinal ... REAL sailors never had a problem with a small target like that....
Hope you can post more photos in future.
Happy Holidays...

Hey guys I went to see BB-62 sunday and just like the Wisconsin she's an impressive sight. I really like how you can tour alot of the spaces on the ship ( though sadly no engineering spaces or the turrets:(). I wanted to do the Turret 2 experiance but I ran out of $$ and they said it was closed anyways. The guy said we could still tour the turret but I never saw the entrance :(. She's not in to bad a shape but most of the decking is GONE and she needs some chipping/painting. Hopefully next year I can volunteer on her!
Heres a link to some pics I took of her

One enters turret two via the hatch under the rear overhang of the exterior of the turret.

Hello GT Kid, rather than post a link to an external site, which may dissapear at some time in the future, leaving a broken link, you are welcome to post your photographs on this thread for the benefit of Members.

Is the New Jersey sitting alongside any kind of Museum (like BB-64 at Nauticus) or just pierside?
I had read that her tourism appeal was "lacking" because of her location. Is that true? At any rate thanks for the pictures, despite the wet day you had!! :D
Have any LA area members had a chance to shoot any pics of Iowa at her new home yet? One taken from the towering bridge (forget its name now...), if possible, would give a great view of her I'd imagine.
Pic: Wisconsin at Nauticus, 2005. DFO ;)
The New Jersey is a couple hundred yards from an aquarium and a parking garage. So it is a bit by itself. Being on the Camden side of the Delaware River can't be helping. But as Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania and not New Jersey, so I would guess that keeps that off the list of options as an improved location.

Surfgun: Yea I think I remember that now but they told me to follow the red line so I did and that entrance was on the blue or green line......dang. O well next time i'm definitely gonna do that!
jbryce: I would but I have 79 pictures uploaded so....yea lol. This is the link to the album thats just for the BB NJ so it's not going anywhere :D.
Yea no offense to anyone that lives there but that location is horrible! Also theres really nothing there to pull tourists in that I could see (that goes for the Olympia/Becuna as well). They need to be somewhere like the Whisky where theres a lot of things around it.
Hey designeraccd I gotta ask what does DFO stand for? I've seen it in your posts but can't figure it out lol.
