Hi everyone. Trying to identify this ship for the site. We think it is likely a Banterer or Ariel Class gunboat c.1880s, but we are having trouble confirming this or getting a specfic name. I have provided a profile of the ship in addition to the smaller photo. Any help as always very welcome. (No name, date, location or other info provided with this one.)

Have spent some time trying to identify this vessel now, and it has dawned on me that if we can zoom into those buildings and what appears to be a ferry all under the bowsprit, then progress can be made, as i'm certain it will help to date and locate the shot.

We need a volunteer to undertake this task, as i have no idea. Don't do pictures on computers.

I think it might be the Higher Ferry at Dartmouth.Compare the roofs of the buildings on what appears to be a ferry landing ramp.I have also looked at several other pictures, the angle of the hill in the background looks similar, all be it the tree's have mature and several buildings have appeared.

That looks promising Peter.
Good shot you have added here.
This will contribute magnificently to the cause, i'm sure.

Came across an HMS Ringdove which has remarkable similarities.

Redbreast-class gunboats and a number were built.
