I am seeking information about the Royal Hellenic Navy's corvette Tompazis (sometimes spelled Tombazis) during World War II. I have a photo that I might use in a forthcoming article. The caption supplied with the photo indicates that it was taken 11 December 1943 and that the ship's captain is Commander Georgacopoulos. While the captions supplied with photos from the Imperial War Museum in London seem extremely detailed and thus are likely to be accurate, I always like to confirm details like names, ranks, dates, locations, etc. with outside sources. Can anyone with access to reliable sources like Greek language books or government documents in London or Athens provide a confirmation of the captain's correct name and rank as of 11 December 1943? I cannot attach the photo to this message as I have only a photocopy of it. If someone can provide the information I seek, please also let me know what source(s) you consulted.
