Admiral Sir Robin Dunford-Slater took the salute at the closing down ceremony of the Nore Command at RND Chatham. - There had been a C in C Nore since 1752. Does anyone know the reason as to why this post was abolished after 209 years?

I suppose that since Chatham and Sheerness closed, there was no Nore to Command

Harry,
Thanks for the links, 209 years of tradition gone at the stroke of a pen. Makes you want to weep

Sheerness was the principal dockyard associated with the Nore and it closed around the same time.
