My grandfather Albert Formby sadly passed away last week and has left us
with some photographs from his time on HMS Ruler, including photos
taken in Sydney and a photo of the signing of the surrender in Tokyo.
Amongst it is an A4 'Ruler Record' which was a newsletter from the ship
dated December 1945, I would hate to think of these things put into a
box and forgotton about especially if they are of interest to anyone. I can
be contacted by email and would be happy to scan these things and make
them available or if you could help with more information about the
locations in some (one looks like it could be the Suez Canal) I would really
appreciate it.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Since this is a personal collection we are talking about here, it is just possible there may be some 'important' photos in there. By that I mean photos that were not taken by press / photographic companies etc, and may show some important events which remain to be documented publically. Of course, to me, any of the photos of the ship and crew are important, and we would love to offer a permanent home on the internet on our site, such that anyone who comes looking for photos or info about HMS Ruler will find what they are looking for.

I would love if you could scan them and post them on the forum, but if you would like me to post the scans here for you, you are welcome to email them to the site at images@battleships-cruisers.co.uk where I can post them here for everyone to take alook at. It is likely that some of our members on here will know about the locations etc, and I'm sure they'll be happy to help where they can.
